Description

Phong Nha Cave — A half day trip is ideal if you don't have much time and wish to view an amazing cave in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. Our tour guides will provide you with interesting information on the many different distinguishing features of the National Park as well as the various sites you will visit on your journey....

Itinerary

Phong Nha Cave is a beautiful cave in Quang Binh Province’s Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. It is renowned not only as a world natural wonder or a marvel of Vietnam, but also as a refuge and a hospital during the American War. Phong Nha Cave, with 7729m in length, is one of the world’s longest wet caves. It also boasts numerous world records, including the highest and longest cave, the longest underground river, the best beaches within, and the most magnificent stalagmites and stalactites. So far, scientists have explored 44.5 km of grottos in this cave, but tourists can only go as far as 1500 m.

PHONG NHA CAVE – HALF DAY TOUR

7.30 AM – 8:00 AM: Your private driver will pick you up at your hotel in Dong Hoi City/Phong Nha and will depart for Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.

9:00 AM: Take a dragon boat down the Son River for 25 minutes to arrive to Phong Nha Cave. While on the boat, you will observe both river banks with countless traditional Vietnamese residences, Catholic churches, and the magnificent mountains around the town. You will trek 300 meters into the cave after accessing it by boat.

Explore the Phong Nha Cave and enjoy the breathtaking views of the river and mountains. This cave is well-known for its stunning rock formations. You can find numerous amazing rock formations such as the “Lion,” “Fairy Caves,” “Royal Court,” and “Buddha”. The stalactites and stalagmites appear more illusory as one travels deeper into the cave, glittering when bright light is focused on them.

The main Phong Nha cave has 14 grottos that are linked by an underground river that stretches for 1.5 kilometers. The ceiling of the Outer Cave and parts of the Inner Caves rise between 25 and 40 meters above the water level. There may be more tunnels leading to comparable big grottos from the 14th grottos, however due to the cavern’s continuing limestone erosion, this area is more perilous for explorers.

The Shallow Cave lies 800 meters from the cave opening and features a spectacular landscape of sand and rock. Stalactites and stalagmites protrude from the ground like strange trees, piquing visitors’ interest.

Return to the dragon boat station by walking through the dry tunnel.

11:00 PM: After spending 2 hours exploring the cave, return to your car and have the driver take you to a restaurant where you can taste exceptional local cuisine before returning to your accommodation in Dong Hoi/Phong Nha. Your half-day excursion Phong Nha Cave tour comes to a conclusion.
